The following screen shots show use a nickname you have been assigned and add it as a second account in KGC.cc mail. Go to Settings / Accounts ...
You'll see a screen that looks like the screen below. It fills in your name the way it currently appears. Usually you want to be consistent and make your name appear the same in all accounts.
However, the Nickname for this account is "webmaster@kgc.cc" and instead of filling my actual name I'm going to use a more generic name ...
Before it will add the address you have to prove you can receive mail at this address. Click on "Send Verification" ...
Note: If you are using Firefox, it seems to blow it away. Don't worry about it, I think it's a bug, but it doesn't cause any real problems.
Go to back and read your eMail. You should find a message which looks like this ...
The easiest think to do is click on the link (highlighted) above and should should get a confirmation like this ...
Go back to Settings / Accounts and decide how you want to set the options. You might want to make your Nickname your default account and choose the option which says always reply from my default account.
Since I want to use two diffent "From" names I choose the option above which said to reply using the address the message was sent to.
Try some experiments. Send yourself some test messages. I find Outlook Express annoying in that it's not easy to see the actual eMail address of the person who sent you mail ... usually just their Name. One way to find it is to go to File / Properties / Details and find the "From:" line in mess of headers. If there's an easier way, let me know. Thunderbird will also hide eMail addresses if people are already in your address book, but under Options you can turn it off:
